This cat yokai have two different types, the one raised domestically and the one that lives in the mountains. It is a breed of the Bakeneko. Legends says that when a cat grows old, it can turn into a yokai but for the Nekomata, only the most intelligent, largest, oldest and had the longest tails will become powerful. When a cat turns into a Nekomata, its tails will split into two identical tails.

Nekomatas are vicious and dangerous. They prey on humans or other larger animals. They said Nekomatas can speak human language and can stand on two feet. They can grow into an enormous cat and can kill people with their fireballs and necromantic powers.
