This Yokai has been described as spirit from an old tree. In some instances it rains down fire and in other stories it would scoop up and eat humans. It is often depicted as a severed head floating above a tree. If you happen to be walking past a tree and you see a coin shining from the root of the tree, keep walking because the Tsurube Otoshi often use a coin to attract its victims.
